As a member of our consulting team, a Consultant with emphasis on Culture, Communications, & DEIB is aligned with Blue Beyond’s philosophy on DEIB – recognizing that diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging are essential to create and grow thriving organizations with flourishing people.  The person who fills this position will have central role in delivering DEIB-related consulting, including discrete DEIB-focused engagements as well as engagements across all our service areas including organizational culture, communications, employee engagement, leadership development, and talent management.

You must be a self-starter with demonstrated capabilities in our core practice areas, possess internal or external consulting experience, and a stellar capacity for client relationship management. Like all of our team members, you will be a resource for our internal teams’ collective learning and effectiveness, supporting our efforts to grow capabilities related to embedding culture, change, and DEIB into our client engagements.

What you'll do

  • Work with our clients across a variety of complex organizations to:
    • Design and implement their DEIB strategies, with a particular focus on ensuring DEIB is effectively embedded in culture and delivered across all aspects of employee experience.
    • Create and implement communications, employee engagement, and organizational change efforts that galvanize and demonstrate leadership commitment to DEIB and engage employees in building flourishing cultures characterized by DEIB.
    • Create and deliver development and training programs that support building effective cultures, teams, managers, and leaders.
    • Build DEIB practices throughout the entire employee lifecycle – through providing strategic recommendations as well as implementing strategies to embed a DEIB mindset in talent and organizational practices.
    • Enable clients to think strategically and proactively about DEIB and help them understand DEIB is not an ‘HR initiative,’ but a business imperative that touches all corners of the business.
    • Convene and effectively facilitate conversations with a variety of leaders, teams, and stakeholders to develop strategies and discuss nuanced and complex topics related to DEIB, culture, employee experience, and organizational effectiveness.
    • Develop and execute compelling communication strategies, plans, and content in a variety of styles and formats that connects and inspires diverse audiences.
    • Build and contextualize the business case for DEIB, including the ripple effect of using business as a force for good.
  • Serve as an internal- and external-facing subject matter expert in DEIB values, principles, mindsets, practices, language, and perspectives as it relates to organizational dynamics, including a firm grasp of the broader global social justice context and other societal issues related to these efforts.
  • Understand the external landscape on the topics of DEIB, culture, and employee communications and engagement – through thought leaders, best practices, research, evolving trends, and local/geographic nuances – and translate that knowledge into strategies and solutions for our clients.
  • Partner with and support our team by contributing to thought leadership regarding what the next generation of corporate DEIB efforts should look like.
  • Plan and manage complex and challenging multidisciplinary client engagements collaboratively with colleagues and clients. Successfully create and manage plans and drive plan execution.

Qualifications

  • Seven+ years’ corporate experience in, “people side of business” roles, with at least 4 years of experience in successfully designing, leading, and managing Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging efforts.
  • Demonstrated understanding of DEIB in a global and US corporate context – with demonstrated hands-on experience in designing, leading, and managing DEIB efforts.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work/life experience required.
  • Experience with stakeholder engagement, change management, employee communications, manager enablement, strategy development, program development, and/or related fields.
  • A proven track record of partnering and collaborating with others, building effective relationships, and managing multiple stakeholder needs.
  • Strong diagnostic and facilitation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills across formats (e.g., web, blogs, video scripts, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Adept at using a wide variety of communication channels, tools, and technology.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills, able to work well under deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to perform multiple tasks effectively and concurrently.
  • Experience working in a range of industries.
  • Able to travel up to 25% (as necessary and as pandemic policies allow).
  • Able to flex time zones as needed to meet client needs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite of tools.
  • Able to produce and share examples of culture, change, and DEIB focused deliverables, and share the story of how those were created.
