Mariah Cherniss
Mariah Cherniss helps organizations and teams utilize effective communication, leadership and collaboration to drive results. Her background includes research and measurement experience, in addition to the practical application of principles in large organizations. At Blue Beyond Consulting, Mariah works with clients on strategic communications, employee engagement, change management, leadership and team development, as well as program management and execution. She also plays a key role in the firm's business development activities.
Through her work at Blue Beyond Consulting, Mariah also partners with non-profit clients on strategic visioning, research and analysis, communications planning, and program management. She has worked with Accelerating Women's Entrepreneurs (AWE) to support women's entrepreneurship worldwide, and is currently partnering with the Not For Sale Campaign to help enable innovative approaches to address the issue of global human trafficking.
Before helping to launch Blue Beyond Consulting, Mariah worked as a project manager at ROI Communications, where she helped to develop and manage employee engagement and internal communication measurement strategies. Prior to her time at ROI, Mariah worked as a researcher at Melcrum Publishing for the Strategic Communication Research Forum - a private benchmarking group comprised of internal communication executives at large, global companies. She completed in-depth, best-practice research, co-authoring the reports: "Employee Engagement: How to build a high-performance workforce" and "Effective Communication From the Top: The definitive research report on how to improve senior leadership communication." Mariah also worked as an associate at Capstone Communications, Inc., assisting with project research, writing, production management, strategy development, focus groups, and communication audits. Mariah holds a BA from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Southern California, along with a minor in leadership studies.
In addition to her work at Blue Beyond, Mariah serves on the advisory board and as an annual reviewer for the Hitachi Foundation’s Yoshiyama Award program, which recognizes young community activists and entrepreneurs. She is an avid traveler and loves learning about people, places and cultures. She has lived in 4 countries and visited nearly 40 - with plans to continue her adventures throughout life. Mariah has a passion for promoting women's issues and has played a leadership role in WYSE (a female mentoring organization), the Women's Brain Exchange, Gather the Women, and the Cardea Center for Women. She also organizes leadership retreats and international travel experiences for women that promote personal growth and development. Mariah is a Colorado/Wyoming native, but now lives with her husband in San Jose, California.
